Cushion crush - part two

Oooh quick post from my iphone so hopefully this works! Following on from this post  my striped eBay cushion covers have arrived and are now on the spare bed so I thought I'd share a few pictures...

I know it won't be to everyone's tastes but I like the combination of the colours and the patterns.  Just a couple more accessories, some fab art work and a light fitting and that'll be the room done!

Cushion Crush - Posh Pigeon

It's probably a sure sign that I'm turning into a old woman but since I started "doing up" my spare room/dressing room I've been hunting high and low for nice cushions to go on the bed to give it a bit of a lift.  I want to incorporate the whites, greys and navies I'm bringing into the room while still giving a bit of a nod to cream as well, my carpet and walls are cream and I don't have many spendy beans spare at the minute so it will be staying that way for the foreseeable!

I've always been a bit scared of patterns but Pinterest has encouraged be to be a bit braver with having some clashes going on so I thought cushions were a good place to start.

Here is my wish list for cushions.

  • 3 cushions
  • to have cream, white, navy and grey
  • 2 smaller matching
  • 1 larger quirky "feature cushion"
  • £50 maximum budget for all 3 (who knew cushions were so expensive eh?!)
I have friends coming to stay in a couple of weeks so yesterday I bit the bullet and decided to get some cushions ordered.  Two striped cushions from eBay (not arrived yet but cost £9.48 in total for 2 including delivery) and this gorgeous "Posh Pigeon" cushion by Sixes and Sevens which I bought from Urban Cuckoo (I think I might have bought the last one from here but I think it is available elsewhere online).

First off I wasn't going to post about this until possibly I had the room finished but I thought I should as I was very impressed by how fast the delivery was from Urban Cuckoo.  I ordered it at lunchtime yesterday and it arrived with me this morning.  It cost £37.55 including £3.95 delivery. And the cushion is the cutest thing I've seen all week!

So 3 cushions, including a bit of a splurge on the "feature" pigeon = £47.03.  Now I just hope the eBay ones are OK and they all look good together.  Eeeek.  I'm starting to think I'm not brave enough to pull off having a mixture of colours and patterns.  To be continued...

London

I spent last weekend in London visiting my very lovely friend Michelle.  We don't get to see much of each other these days so it was wonderful to get to spend a few days together.  We had a relaxing couple of days of chatting and strolling around.  We had Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea at the Sanderson Hotel (which I want to go back and stay in - it was fabulous!) and shopping wise I bought... a belt!  Yes a £3.99 belt from H&M was all I bought shopping wise.  Minor miracle!  I have bought some clothes online recently though so hope to do a bit of a haul post on them next week.

Anyway here are some snaps from my trip including the tea and a local park which don't include me as I was looking rougher than a rough thing!

(two stands due to them catering for allergies)

Have a lovely weekend and hello Michelley :)

Lilac Love Part #1

I have developed a "thing" for lilac over the last couple of weeks. I think as spring has sprung I have been thinking about pastels and I was searching for a pastel polish to go with a floral top I have.  I had lilac in my head and was mooching around Boots when I realised I had Models Own "Lilac Dream" at home.  I put it on with a top coat of Seche Vite (yep, still got a "thing" for it too).

This is one of the reasons why I love blogging. I forgot I had blogged about it almost a year to today and couldn't remember what it was like on so gave it a whirl and the latest results are below...

I was SO pleased with this shade, with the coverage of two good coats and a topcoat.  I think it looks so different from how it did in my first blog post and to be honest if I'd have looked at it before applying this time I don't know if I'd have went for it. Don't you think it looks very different? I think it looks so much nicer this time.  I don't know if it's the topcoat that has given it that something a bit special.   I can tell you for sure what it has done though...  I am now on my 9th yes NINTH day of this polish - the photo was taken on day 7.   The longevity of this combination is outstanding.  Really, really impressive.  I now have one small chip on my right thumb nail and a tiny bit of wear from the tips.

Good isn't it?

Anyway just thought I'd share as honestly I'm so impressed (in case you hadn't noticed).

Also am I the only one of used their own blog to look back and compare?   It's like my own little diary of beauty stuffs.  I'll be back soon with more lilac love in the shape of a lust list of lilac coloured fashion things so keep a look out for that...

In my room...

Picture heavy.

This isn't my bedroom and it isn't my shoe room (well the room with the other wardrobe and cabinet with shoes) but it is our spare room. It still needs a LOT of work but recently we've waved an Ikea wand over it and have a Pax Lyngdal Wardrobe (200 x 236cm I believe) with various accessories, a Ransby dressing table in oak, and some bed covers too. I should point out only the left side of the wardrobe is mine. MrL insisted he be allowed wardrobe space so claimed the right. Meh.

Wardrobe (Pax with Oak). Excuse the boxes of wedding things beside it, we've only been married for almost 4.5 years, I haven't had time to clear all my wedding stuff away yet!

Ransby Oak Dressing Table & Stool (can't find it online and it wasn't online when we bought it at the end of last either so maybe it's in store). I built the stool, oh yes. Flat pack fiend.

So there. I know there's a lot more work to be done. I need to do some more serious decluttering and I want some nice navy cushions and pictures and a white light fitting. I also kind of need to win the lottery.

I hope you enjoyed having a nosey at one of my little rooms. Recognise any of my make up/toiletry bits as your faves?

How do you like them apples?

I like apples. Not massively keen on the fruit itself but as a design or a doodle or whatever I feel a bit drawn to them. I have a couple of apple rings and necklace that I love and posted about here so when I spied these in New Look yesterday I had to snap them up as I think they're really cute.

I also noticed a *cough* homage to the Galibardy ring in my old post near the till in New Look. While it is fairly bargainous also I much prefer the dearer ones I have ta.

In other news and just to reiterate that I seem to have a thing for fruit just now, the lemon dress in the background is from New Look last summer and the nail polish is Barry M 318 Peach Melba.

What are your thoguhts on fruit prints and accessories? I think this totally counts as part of my 5 a day by the way ;)

Have a fabulous weekend xx
